Midnight and the Lemon Boys

A strange post this; film negative originally processed in June 1981. I’ve seen contacts but never prints so I fired up my Epson 2400 and scanned 3 frames. This is the best ‘out of the box’. I believe the session is in or around Bloomsbury Place, Kemptown and the line-up includes a future Transvision Vamp, and a future Test Tube Baby.
Marcus Myers – vocals, rhythm guitar
Chris Anderson – bass
Mrs Hoggins – drums
Nick Sayer – guitar

This is the blog of Paul Williams, Ceredigion resident since 1970. I am an English and Philosphy graduate of what was once known as St David's University College, at Lampeter. I played bass in Dyfed's first punk band, and living in Llandewi Brefi, had a grandstand view of Operation Julie. Eventually, after 2 years playing bass in Brighton's 256th punk band, I returned to Wales to deal in books and then antiques. I've trained and worked as a counsellor, I am a photographer, blog and web designer and I publish the annual Wales Antiques Guide. I am married and a father of one. Apart from my family, my interests include books, maps, Nikon, Yashica and Mamiya film cameras, British Culture 1935 - 1965, Poole pottery, Welsh textiles, and Poster art. My favourite movies include anything by Pressburger and Powell favourite music includes Gene Clark, Gram Parsons, and anything form San Francisco 1965-1970. I am a late convert to 'Kraut Rock'.

and a future Colorado Beatle in the shape of the great ‘Big Chris’ Anderson… excellent snap of one of Brighton’s finest rock and roll bands, happy days…

Funny how things come into your head after decades have passed. Been trying to recall the name of the Lemon Boys’ bass player (Chris) for the last few days. We used to chat a fair bit back in Brighton years ago: he was a good bloke. Surprised to find that “my records indicate” M & L.Boys played with my old band a couple of times in London, February of 1980. Had completely forgotten. Thanks much for posting the picture.

I realise that I´m a few years late commenting on this thread! I remember the day fairly well.
The shoot was actually on the roof of Johny and Sue Gravenors place at Silwood Terrace/Place? just behind Western Rd, in 1980 I believe. At the time we were doing alot of gigs around the country and had just done a couple of tours supporting U2 when they were still playing pubs and polytechnics. There were also a couple of fashion students living at that address, so we were never short of clothes to dress up in, although I think we look quite dressed down in this shoot!
    Thanks for the pictures!
