Prism: West Wales Drug and Alcohol Advisory Service

I have started worked today on a new project overhauling the web pages of Prism the Alcohol Advisory Service who are based in Carmarthen.

I built the original site for them when I worked for them managing the Ceredigion team. It was well received and over the years has proved a useful information point. However as time passes as projects are commissioned and decommissioned it can become somewhat stale and worse, inaccurate.

With the new project Prism want more than a lick of bright yellow paint though. I am re-building it using a WordPress. Not that Prism needs a blog; they will be using WordPress to provide their own Content Management System. I’m going customise the Default Kubrick theme which I believe will provide all the functionality they will need for regular review and updating. It is hoped also to encourage more user and staff involvement by developing a more flexible and attractive web site.

This is the blog of Paul Williams, Ceredigion resident since 1970. I am an English and Philosphy graduate of what was once known as St David's University College, at Lampeter. I played bass in Dyfed's first punk band, and living in Llandewi Brefi, had a grandstand view of Operation Julie. Eventually, after 2 years playing bass in Brighton's 256th punk band, I returned to Wales to deal in books and then antiques. I've trained and worked as a counsellor, I am a photographer, blog and web designer and I publish the annual Wales Antiques Guide. I am married and a father of one. Apart from my family, my interests include books, maps, Nikon, Yashica and Mamiya film cameras, British Culture 1935 - 1965, Poole pottery, Welsh textiles, and Poster art. My favourite movies include anything by Pressburger and Powell favourite music includes Gene Clark, Gram Parsons, and anything form San Francisco 1965-1970. I am a late convert to 'Kraut Rock'.

Good to see that there are web designers prepared to touch subjects often seen as taboo in the world such as alcohol rehab. Looing forward to the finished product.

It’s a dirty job but someone has to do it!
