I thought (perhaps presumptuously) there might be interest in other photographs from the same session as my last post. All are images from the earlier part of a one hour session at Aberaeron sea front. As I recall things became rushed as ruddy kids gathered to see the fun. All credit to Jane for remaining unphased throughout. I think you can see how these images are more ‘routine’, a series of poses that reflect I think that we didn’t really know each other well. They are images that it’s good to ‘get in the bag’ before trying something a little more outre like lying on a stoney beach with a piece of smelly seaweed draped across your face.

Artistic Photograph: Aberaeron

I posted recently on Facebook a link to a Helsinki photographer. His work was mildly interesting and really only because I know someone who travels from UK to Helsinki fairly regularly. I thought he’d be similarly ‘mildly’ interested. I hadn’t reckoned on the photographer’s blog title including the words, ‘Artistic Photographs’. There was a time, long ago, when that could mean only one thing, nude or erotic photography. So disappointment all round when the Artistic Photos turned out to be of Finnish Lakes, Ducks and City Scapes…
So, by way of an apology for raising false hope here’s a woman with seaweed on her face from my ‘Things You Might Find at the Beach’ series…

Once again MyCeredigion finds itself in Pembrokeshire…

Not far from Narberth in Pembrokeshire is a treasure house of fun. Anyone who’s been to Folly Farm will know you really only go with children. In fact an un-accompanied adult, male, with a camera would probably be fed to the pigs.

Anyway for the third time this year I braved it’s hallowed halls with a party of 20 celebrating EM’s number 4 birthday, the Big O-Four. Folly Farm has all the usual appointments associated with farming; goats (yay, feeding time!) cows, sheep, horses, donkeys, chickens, giraffes, ocelot etc etc. Of course you guessed, it’s not only a farm it’s a zoo too.

But what do you do in the unlikely event of rain in West Wales or if you’re tired of petting and feeding and gawping? Well, we head for ‘Europe’s largest undercover vintage funfair with a huge collection of working rides and stalls lovingly restored for your enjoyment.‘

I’m not a fun fair fan in the normal, That’ll Be the Day sense. Too many scary rides and too much teenage shrieking. But this is special. As it says on the can, it’s ‘Vintage’. The Chairoplane, the Caterpillar, Dodgems, the Royal Coronation Speedway, the Cakewalk, Golden Gallopers and a Helter Skelter with coconut mats rough enough to satisfy the most sadistic PE teacher.

Best of all? The vintage art…

Cardigan Big Art Project News

There will be a meeting to further discuss the future of the Big Art Project in Cardigan. Taking place on July 16th at Ysgol Uwchradd (Cardigan Secondary School) it is organised by those campaigning against the project. Chaired by “independant” person Andrew Shoben from Greyworld. All invited.

If you are in favour, it could be the last chance to get your voice heard.

2009 Photo Marathon Cardiff, Georgia O’Keefe and the Umsinga Lilies

By the skin of my teeth I got my entry form in for this year’s Photomarathon in Cardiff. I’ve never taken part before but friend Ian E Willson says it’s a lot of fun. 12 frames, 12 topics, 12 hours. All on film. It’ll be challenging and tiring but a great excuse to spend the whole day with a good mate and a film camera. So excited was I that I rushed out this morning into the garden to catch these lilies before they faded. Digital, obviously, hand held, and plenty of Lightroom post-processing.

Georgia O’Keefe anyone?
